Curriculum

Our Curriculum Vision

“Every education teaches a philosophy; if not by dogma then by suggestion, by implication, by atmosphere. Every part of that education has a connection with every other part. If it does not all combine to convey some general view of life, it is not an education at all.”

G.K. Chesterton

At All Saints, our curriculum is at the heart of our school’s purpose. Our curriculum reflects, promotes and animates our core values and our ethos. Every subject within our curriculum combines to promote the discovery of truth, the development of goodness and the appreciation of beauty. At All Saints we also speak of the uncodified curriculum, the curriculum which is taught by suggestion, implication and atmosphere; this is a curriculum in respect, understanding, affection and humour.

Our curriculum is built on one ambition, that is the development of virtue. We recognise that virtue leads to academic success, character development and moral fortitude. By aiming to make our pupils Saints, we give them the best formation and the greatest chance of living meaningful lives which positively contribute to their families and their community.

We consider the starting points of all pupils and provide tailored pathways which provide them with adequate levels of challenge and intellectual stimulation, as well as the consideration of social and emotional development. We engage pupils in a variety of co-curricular activities, we firmly believe that the development of expertise and talent goes far beyond the classroom, the laboratory, the sports field, or the auditorium. We want to ensure that learning never ceases. Our curriculum promotes a love of learning and acknowledges that learning for one’s personal benefit is excellent. However, learning in order to serve God and neighbour is infinitely more rewarding.
